2007 Tucano Display Pilot
Flight Lieutenant Bobby Moore, 31, is a Qualified Flying Instructor on
72 Squadron, RAF Linton-on-Ouse. Interested in flying from an early age he
gained a RAF Sixth Form Scholarship and Flying Scholarship whilst at Brentwood
School in Essex. Bobby joined the RAF on leaving school in 1995. Following
Initial Officer Training at the RAF College Cranwell he completed Flying
Training on the Firefly, Tucano and Jetstream aircraft, gaining his
wings in 1998.
On completion of Flying Training Bobby was
posted to 70 Sqn, RAF Lyneham. There he was employed in both Strategic and
Tactical Air Transport Roles, flying the K model C130 Hercules. During his time
on the Hercules he flew on Operations into Kosovo and Sierra Leone, was
detached to the Falkland Islands and participated in major exercises in Canada,
the USA and the Sultanate of Oman. In 2002 Bobby was selected for instructional
duties. He firstly instructed on the Tutor at RAF Leeming and returned to
Linton and the Tucano in 2004. With over 2900 military flying hours Bobby
considers flying low level aerobatics in the Tucano display to be, in pure
flying terms, the highlight of his career so far.
Team
Manager Flying Officer Johno Johnstone, 26, is a Qualified
Flying Instructor (QFI) on the Tucano, serving with 72(r) Squadron at RAF
Linton-on-Ouse. Originally from London, Johno joined the RAF in September 02
and graduated from Officer Training in February 03.
Johno gained his
wings on graduating Basic Fast Jet Training at RAF Linton-on-Ouse. He then
moved to 208(r) Sqn at RAF Valley where he undertook Advanced Fast Jet Training
on the Hawk. On completing this, course Johno was selected to spend his first
tour as a Creamie QFI on the Tucano. On completion of weapons
training Johno hopes to be selected to fly the Eurofighter Typhoon.
Public Relations Manager Flight Lieutenant Rod Clarke,
45, joined RAF in 1981 directly from school. He undertook navigator training at
Finningley 1981-82 before flying Phantoms in Germany 1983-84. He was then
posted to Wyton, 100sqn, flying Canberra's 1984-1988. In 1989-91 Rod became a
Tornado Simulator instructor at RAF Bruggen and flew with 17F Sqn on the
Tornado in Germany until 94.
Rod undertook this Navigator Instructor
qualifications, QNI LLTS, at RAF Finningly/Cranwell and operated there from
1994-96. A posting to Saudi Arabia then followed instructing on the Jetstream
with BAe at Dhahran from 1996-98; after which he was posted back to Cranwell as
a QNI LLTS until 2002. During Op Telic Rod flew with 617 Sqn based at RAF
Lossiemouth flying 14 missions from the start of war to its end. Rod was then
posted to his present location at RAF Linton on Ouse with the Tucano Air
Navigation Squadron (TANS) to be an Air Navigation Instructor (ANI). |
