Some history of the airline
Aer Lingus was formed by the Irish government in April 1936 to provide air services from Ireland, and the name Aer Lingus is an anglicization of Aer Loingeas, the Irish for air fleet.   

The first Aer Lingus flight took off from Dublin to Bristol on 27th May 1936. The aircraft was a deHavilland Dragon DH-84 registration EI-ABI. This aircraft was named the Iolar, meaning Eagle, and a replica aircraft was restored to airworthy condition for our 50th anniversary in 1986. The Iolar appears regularly at airshows in Ireland and the U.K
